masculine card using sending smiles

Masculine cards can be a real pain to make if you tend towards floral stamps.

I know that most of my stash is florals, so I’m always glad to have a masculine card idea.

A few weeks ago during Sale-A-Bration, I featured a few other easy cards to make.

You can have a look at these ideas for inspiration:
Masculine Cards

For this card, I’m making a masculine card using Sending Smiles.

The inspiration for this card came from Ruth from Artful Stampin‘.

Go check her out -she has fantastic, arty ideas.

So what do you need to make this card?

Sending Smiles Stamp set
Thick Basic White Cardstock½ sheet -score ½ on short side and cut ½ on the long end
Basic White Cardstock4″ x 5 ¾” plus scrap for sentiment
3x Ink pads of your choiceStarry Sky, Orchid Oasis & Parakeet Party
White Embossing Powder
Versamark Ink
Heat Tool
Small square acrylic block
Blending Brush
Paper Snips & Adhesives

How to assemble your masculine card

  • Prepare your Basic White Cardstock for heat embossing
  • Stamp “sending” using versamark
  • Dust with white embossing powder and set using your heat tool
  • Using Parakeet Party Inkpad, ink and stamp the acrylic block onto the middle of the Basic White cardstock
  • Clean the block, re-ink using Orchid Oasis and stamp to the side of the Parakeet Party block
  • Repeat using Starry Sky -now on the other side
  • Now slowly build your rows, alternating the colours
  • It will not stamp easily over the embossing -and that’s ok
  • Once you’re finished, take your darkest colour and blending brush and blend over the rows
  • Make sure your blend well around the embossed “sending”
  • Now (optional) add some splatters
  • Drag the edges of the cardstock over the dark ink for some additional grunge
  • Stamp “birthday wishes” onto scrap cardstock and adhere below “sending”
  • Glue this onto your card base

This is such an easy technique and can be used for any colour scheme.

I hope you try it out and experiment with different colour combinations.

I did a LIVE the other day where I made this masculine card using Sending Smiles -you can watch it here.

Happy crafting!
