Next year March, my hubby and I will celebrate 30 years of marriage.
I am dreaming of a white Christmas to mark this milestone wedding anniversary.
When I was only 17 years old, I was selected to be one of 42 students across South Africa to represent South Africa in Germany.
I stayed in a suburb of Frankfurt -called Gotzenhein. The goal of staying in Germany was to enhance my German -speaking ability (as it was my third language -this was a wonderful opportunity to do this) and also to get a taste of the German culture.

My very first overseas trip – I was caught between fear and wonder!
Little did I realize just how much this trip would change my life forever!
The exchange took place over the December holidays -so I was able to experience the whole month of December getting ready for Christmas.
Christmas time in Germany is just so beautiful -my family were hard at work baking the most delicious biscuits!
The village closed its roads to vehicle traffic – to make it safe for the Christmas markets that were on.
I had the most incredible time walking up and down the streets.

I loved sampling all the different types of foods that were on offer.
It was such an incredible atmosphere – I immediately fell in love with the whole experience.
It’s been 35 years this December since I was in Germany.
But do you know what?
I can still remember the date that I departed for my trip!!
Yes, I know that’s crazy -but it just goes to show how much of an impact that trip had on me.
And every year I dream of a white Christmas.
It’s been on my bucket list to share it with my husband for so many years.
So, the goal for 2023 is to save enough money to have a white Christmas in Germany.
In the meantime – I am hosting a Christmas card open house on the 5th November.
Why not join us as we start getting into the Christmas spirit?
You might also start dreaming of a white Christmas!
Happy crafting!
